Which Windows default-device role(s) to assign when setting a default device. This is a bit flag: the three real Windows roles (Console, Multimedia, Communications) can be combined, and each set flag maps to one native Role call. Default and All are convenience combinations.

Fields

All = Console | Default

Console + Multimedia + Communications. The most robust "make this THE default device for everything" option; use it when some applications follow the Console role.

Communications = 4

Communications role (voice chat) - maps to Role.Communications. Matches -CommunicationOnly.

Console = 1

Console role (system sounds, games, voice commands) - maps to Role.Console.

Default = Multimedia | Communications

Multimedia + Communications. This matches Set-AudioDevice called with no role switch (and, like the cmdlet, does NOT set the Console role).

Multimedia = 2

Multimedia role (music, movies) - maps to Role.Multimedia. Matches -DefaultOnly.
